The Renaissance
The Renaissance came on the scene with a bang in 2009. He was a crowd favorite as he rose to the top of the field out of 27 to win the US National Championship in the English Pleasure Futurity.
Although already a National Champion, The Renaissance first caught Jacque Thompson’s eye by accident. Jacque was just enjoying classes while waiting to see one of her horses compete. She just happened to look up just as Shaun Rooker charged into Wendell Arena at Scottsdale with The Renaissance. It was love a first sight. He was the epitome of her idea of an English Pleasure breeding stallion.
After a careful evaluation by Jacque of his conformation and pedigree Ren was purchased by Rod and Jacque to add to their breeding program at Smoky Mountain Park Arabians LLC.
The Renaissance’s sire is ML Afire Dream, he is by the immortal Afire Bey V and out of a US National Champion Stallion Aladdinn daughter, the bottom of ML Afire Dream’s dam line traces back to the excellent producer Bask Clasix and finally to strong Babson and Crabbet foundation stock.
Ren’s dam, First Essence, boasts a who’s who in Saddleseat English Performance breeding. She is by the National Park Champion Park Horse ProFire. Fire Essence’s dam is a full sister to the Multi-National Champion Driving Horse BRA Quintara.
The Renaissance’s naturally high neck carriage and well sprung ribs result in a short coupling that allows his muscular hind end to dig in and develop the power to create extreme front end motion. His babies exhibit the same effortless cadence and symmetry.
By Winning the National Championship with such style as a three year old, The Renaissance proved he is not only a natural competitor physically but mentally as well. That’s just another wonderful trait Ren has proven to pass on.
The Renaissance possesses the natural attributes of a true equine athlete. He has proven time after time to pass them on to his offspring.
